Absolutely amazing production. Great play, great directing, great cast. I was blown away.
Wonderfully written, with today's political, social and health frameworks used with subtlety. Kudos to the actors and all who worked in different time zones to rehearse and deliver these memorable interwoven monologues.
It was great to see a performance that was so relevant about the pandemic and the topic of isolation, it was great to be able to see this after almost a year of social distancing and caution.
I've seen several performances of plays specifically written to be performed on Zoom and it makes a huge difference in the quality of the online experience. This one was one of the most intimate and more so than you could have gotten at a live performance, I think. A very good use of the technology.
"Lonesomes" was one of the most innovative pieces I've seen. Very deep and engaging. Superb writing, acting and directing. One of my favorite performances of Armando's over the many years we've been watching him.
The plays were a good depiction of the experience of a family mired in alcoholism and the damage it wreaks; of the ways we mask and cope with pain; and of the bonds of love between the family members despite estrangement and brokenness.
Very confessional, absolving each other of sins. Heartache and tenderness.
As a psychiatrist and mystic I loved the cloud of unknowing!!
I am so impressed with what you have done with Zoom! Both last October where most plays worked really well and this spectacular presentation! Beautiful writing, acting and directing.
Wonderful! So moving and powerful and real! Thank you Octavio for writing a totally current piece, so needed. And Jackie for your considerate directing. Bravo Armando and Isabel!
I want this published!!!
Relentless heartbreak; reveals the power of love to redeem even the unforgiven.
So real. I feel it captured the quarantine and trying to connect in so many ways.
The play was so timely and profound - a revelation and so seamlessly melded in terms of the two segments fitting together. It was also a marvelous utilization of Zoom technology that kept the audience's interest very well. Thanks so much for portraying the alienation and sadness that have resulted from the lockdown - with both energy and a smidgen of hope coming through to us at the end.
Personal is the perfect word for the play and the work tonight - thank you all for sharing your full selves.
The solo performances by these two actors are profound, riveting, flawless. Acting like this is a kind of secular miracle.
Octavio Solis's LONESOMES embodies the pain of isolation and need for connection in our COVID world. The writing is poetry, the acting and directing are incredible. Raw, honest, and emotional.
