Synopsis

A multigenerational and multicultural journey that explores the love language of food, the deep wounds of sibling rivalry, and how a family moves through grief – Nerve asks what our legacy is and that we truly leave behind.

About the Playwright

Minita Gandhi is a Los Angeles based multi-hyphenate who was born in Mumbai, India. They love magic realism, dark comedy and exploring multi-genre, multicultural, and multi-generational stories as a medium for healing.  They are thrilled to return to ANPF after directing and acting in the 2023 Festival.

A featured playwright at the NNPN National Showcase in 2024, Gandhi is a critically acclaimed playwright known for their solo-show Muthaland, a 2022 NYSAF Pfaelzer Award finalist, and currently working as a librettist adapting Ram V’s graphic novel, The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, for an opera commission with Minnesota Opera Company.

Nerve, has been workshopped and developed at the Theatreworks Silicon Valley New Works Festival 2023 and with the support of The Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2022. Nerve also received support from the Lucille Lortel Theatre, The Alcove New Play development program in 2023.

Acting: The Arena Stage, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and Lookingglass Theater. TV includes Swimming with Sharks, Chicago Fire,Chicago PD,Disney’s MixedUp Adventures.Upcoming: Latika in the Hulu series Deli Boys. Directing: Creede Repertory Theatre, CAATA, Stage Left Theater, and ANPF.

They are the Founder of IGNITE, a mentorship program for BIPOC women and non-binary theater artists that connects emerging artists to national theater leaders and co-founder of PATHWAYS an ART/AGE mentorship program focused on Portland-based BIPOC, gender diverse artists.

Rosa is excited to be working at ANPF for the first time. Rosa is Associate Artistic Director at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Co-Artistic Producer of upstart crow collective, a company dedicated to producing classical works with casts of women and non-binary people.
